Every holiday the majority of my family (near and far) come together in one families home and partake in the festivities. One family member is in charge of handing out food duties. Like who makes/brings what and how much. Then, on those holidays that it calls for, families are given a name of a child (13 years of age or younger) to bring a gift/present for. At any time you are free to bring extra gifts or party favors. Now, since I'm a mother to be, I will finally become part of the grown up (adult) rituals. I will be in-charge of bringing my famous lemon and ginger seasoned red potatoes and green beans for our Thanksgiving feast. I feel proud and honored to be allowed into this family tradition. But many of my other family members have a ting of broken heartedness due to the fact that I am an under age, un-wed mother taking on an unforgiving way of life (the same as many of them did just 18 years ago). They place false smiles on their faces to disguise their anguish but I see the melancholy deep in their eyes. Hopefully they will see that I am happy in my new situation and ready for anything that will come my way (with the help and support of those same people). I am looking forward to a joyous and blessed holiday season and I will wishing all of you the same.
